I have been taking a break from blogging.
Since walking away from unpleasant family dynamics last year, fake holidays like Mother’s and the upcoming, Father’s Day are stressful.
My emotions are all over the place and social media makes it worse. Not just the rigamarole of ads, memes, and posts all focused on the glory of motherhood, but also the never-ending, and seemingly on the rise, post after post of people seeking ‘hidden’ or ‘extra’ knowledge of scripture.
These same people cannot seem to grok who Christ is, what the regular scriptures are about, or how we are to live our lives as Christians… but hey, let’s go in search of hidden scriptures that might talk about our alien origins! What could possibly go wrong?!
As a balm to my battered spirit, I have began attending liturgy again. Saturday there is another guild meeting and I think these healing sips of water just might save me!
The bible has plenty of challenges without the addition of goofy extras.
If you are someone who has become caught up in ‘extra reading’ take a break. Eat something. Have a drink of water. Here is the daily reading from the OCA website. Read it out loud. It will help heal you.
