Next week is Passion Week. Tomorrow is Palm Sunday. There will be a liturgy every morning next week plus all of the services for Pascha. I have been gone from church so much that people had begun to ask my sister if I had moved! It is a delicate balance trying to attend when there are not too many people in attendance but wanting/needing to attend and trying not to bring home any germs that might make my husband ill.

I attended the guild meeting on Saturday and then a presanctified Liturgy on Wednesday. I sat with my sister and nephew and just marinated in the beauty, chanting, singing, and incense of Orthodoxy.

As I was in church, I started to think about who was with me: my sister whom I brought to Orthodoxy and her son whom she brought to Orthodoxy. My husband though at home and not in attendance, is Orthodox. Who knows who will convert because of him? I am talking to a friend of mine about Orthodoxy, and I hope my blog is reaching people who are seeking information about it.

I am not ashamed my husband and I never had children. We planned it that way. I will not know until I get to heaven and meet them one day, who came to Orthodoxy because they met someone who knew someone, who was brought to Orthodoxy because of me, my sister, nephew, husband or reader of this blog. Generations of people can be saved if we put ourselves out there, show mercy to them, speak to them about how loving and merciful God is and show them the one true, Holy, catholic, and apostolic church.

I ma not bragging or as they say now-a-days ‘flexing’. I just ‘get it’ about this verse. I thought it was about being in ministry or hosting bible studies or small groups in my home for even fostering children and it CAN be all of those things but it is also about talking to people about your faith.

I see women of every age who have grown weary of being used, of having their beauty and bodies exploited, even in church. They wish to dress more modest but instead of being supported by their church they are made fun of. They are told they are being too legalistic or that modest attire and headcovering is not for the modern chruch.

Because of this many convert to Islam where they are encouraged in their journey of modesty. When this happens you are not just losing pew numbers, you are losing souls. Some women need that next level. It IS biblical, and it must be supported by all church leadership.

I am so thankful our priest encourages the women in our parish to head cover while in church.

Modesty is always pleasing to God. If your pastor is against it, he has been caught up by the world. Why are you still under his very questionable “leadership”?

It is worse for a person to leave Christianity than to never have been a Christian.

2 Peter 2:20-22 …20If indeed they have escaped the corruption of the world through the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, only to be entangled and overcome by it again, their final condition is worse than it was at first. 21 It would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness than to have known it and then to turn away from the holy commandment passed on to them. 22Of them the proverbs are true: “A dog returns to its vomit,” and, “A sow that is washed goes back to her wallowing in the mud.”…

And for leadership, those who teach and teach wrongly… Lord have mercy.

James 3:1-2 ESV Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers, for you know that we who teach will be judged with greater strictness. For we all stumble in many ways. And if anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle his whole body.

There are those who would tell you not all scripture is for us. That God or a certain apostle was not talking to us in certain passages of scripture. We know these people are false prophets because:

2 Timothy 3:16-17 All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.

Which scriptures… ALL SCRIPTURE. Even those that talk about headcovering!

So… wear a headcovering and dress modest if you like. memorize some of these verses or others which you find profitable and be ready to recite them to those who wish to eat their own vomit or wallow in the mud!

But more importantly, go to an Orthodoxy church this weekend and over the next week. You will be deeply immersed in scripture. Your soul will be edified in ways you could only have dreamed of before. Light some candles, pray, sing. Get your spiritual prayer groove on.
